Coffee Brewing Instructions
The Dalai Java recommends using the French press method for brewing/infusing our coffee product. 'French Press' or 'Press pots' are readily available at many grocery or natural food stores, kitchen specialty stores, and even at some of the big-box chains. Follow the manufacturers instructions for coffee measurement and be sure that the water temperature reaches 195-200 degrees fahrenheit.
A second choice for brewing would be the classic stainless steel coffee percolator.
Although a standard drip coffee maker will do the job, it is not as effective at extracting the full coffee/herb benefit.
** If you are using a drip pot , we advise against using a paper filter...not only because of the environmental impact, but because the paper filter may absorb much of the aromatic and essential oils from the coffee and herbs. As those oils are trapped in the paper filter, the coffee may not filter through the basket as quickly as a pot would normally. This could result in a very long brew cycle...OR an overflow from the sides of the basket, AND a mess :-(
An alternative to the paper coffee filter is a reusable nylon basket filter or a SwissGold brand filter. Still, not our recommended method.
ALWAYS USE CLEAN, FILTERED WATER FOR BREWING COFFEE.
